Creating your wedding day timeline for beauty services can be a bit overwhelming. Listed here are a few tips for getting organized on your big day.
- Communicate the basics as soon as possible and update often. In order for me to be able to accurately calculate a start time, I will need the following information:
Ceremony start time Photographer start time Number of attendees requiring beauty services An accurate accounting of which services are to be rendered From these four basic pieces of information, I can "work backwards" to configure a start time for the bride and bridal party. Be sure to communicate with your beauty team any changes in these key areas.
- Make sure that your wedding planner or DOC has the contact information of your beauty professionals and vice versa. I have found, that both parties sometimes have very different ideas on the time frame for beauty services. When the coordinator and beauty professionals work together, there can only be success.
- For larger parties, I suggest providing food to eat at intervals
or in a manner that allows the party members to eat at their convenience throughout the day. Advise your beauty professionals of any breaks that are required before the day of the event. This will ensure that there are no scheduling surprises and that the beauty professional has an opportunity to discuss "down time" fees with the bride and or bridal party.
- Straws! One bride I worked with provided straws for herself and bridal party to maintain the integrity of the lip color while drinking throughout the day. This is such a great idea. Even though I provide a lip touch up, this will reduce the amount of time needed to reach in the purse and reapply. Brilliant!
- Once we have approved a timeline for your wedding party, please share it with them. This is especially helpful for those early morning start times. Each party member should know what time their services begin at and where to receive them (ie hotel room number sometimes forget to get distributed.
- It is very easy to get distracted on your big day and forget to eat. You will not look so hot passed out on the floor. So please, remember to eat and hydrate during the day. A handful of nuts are easy to keep tucked away, and provide the right amount of protein needed to remain upright and on task!
Congratulations on your engagement, and I look forward to working with you on your wedding day!
